Heritability
Heritability estimates for many mental health disorders in children and adolescents range from 40-80%. This indicates a significant genetic component in the risk for developing these conditions. However, heritability does not mean determinism, and environmental factors play a crucial role in whether genetic predispositions lead to actual disorders.
